Last month I had a discussion with UWE officers responsible for organisational learning and development. A recommendation put to them was based on identifying implicit bias through an online test, this would result in identifying training needs and then providing individuals access to a resource pack(s) to address the bias and prejudice, finally a re-test of implicit bias is taken to see if any change had occurred. The hope is for this to be a ‘loop system’ towards continuous personal improvement. Whether the recommendation is taken on board is yet to be seen.

The trade unions at UWE are hosting a get-together with food and drink refreshments in celebration of Black History Month. It’s a drop-in opportunity to meet union executive officers along with BME staff forum coordinators to find out more & ask questions.

Includes presentation of the UNISON Nelson Mandela Award 2019
