Last month I had a discussion with UWE officers responsible for organisational learning and development. A recommendation put to them was based on identifying implicit bias through an online test, this would result in identifying training needs and then providing individuals access to a resource pack(s) to address the bias and prejudice, finally a re-test of implicit bias is taken to see if any change had occurred. The hope is for this to be a ‘loop system’ towards continuous personal improvement. Whether the recommendation is taken on board is yet to be seen.
If any UWE UNISON Black member has thoughts on any of this or other suggestions, please do not hesitate in contacting me. The union needs your voice to represent you the best way possible.
